Though reflexively she wanted to lean away, she held herself still out of curiosity. It was almost infuriating, the constant amused gleam that seemed to hide behind her eyes when she was talking to someone, or about something, that interested her. This look did not waver even when he spoke, and in fact, instead of becoming unnerved, she only grinned wider, dropping her volume to match his before he stepped back.
"Maybe so~ but success is success, no matter what form it comes in."
She yawned, expression still faintly entertained if nothing else. He had still not asked her to leave, so she saw no reason to. It did make her wonder, though...he was quite intimidating when he wanted to be, but he did not seem to have figured out that her brain wasn't exactly wired like everyone else. Where most people had a 'flight or fight' response, she had a 'befriend the bear' response. She was not beyond feeling fear, but the situations that pulled the emotion from her were often irrational, or seemingly unimportant in comparison to situations that she handled with a smile or snide remarks. So any ominous statements or attempts to intimidate her were very likely to fall short of success.
After letting her eyes sweep around the home, her gaze returned to him, now in the corner, "Are you hungry? I got more pomegranates.." she raised an eyebrow in question, waiting for an answer.

The marauder glowered at her from across the room, embittered at his apparent defeat. He continued to leer at the woman upon her offer. "... You have more pomegranates. Have, not got. I am clearly of a very lower class than you, but I certainly do not talk like some loathsome wretch who crawled out of one of those pathetic shitholes many people of my level call home," he spat, gesturing in the direction of the poorer living area where houses were mere shacks and tents. "You seem to have a decent grasp of grammar and vocabulary, for all your abhorrent pronunciation. Spare what remains of my dignity and put them to good use."
When his small rant seemed to be finished, Amonsef returned to the question at hand. "I don't want, nor do I need, your charity..." He answered icily - though the sour look he diverted to the floor suggested he was probably hungry.

Bhae blinked, tilting her head slightly as he began a rant on her grammar. She repeated the correct word--have--to herself silently, more mouthing it than saying it aloud. Though, when he was finished with his lecture she only grinned, righting her head to its usual position with a smile.
"Hey...I understood all of that."
It was obvious at that point that she was either intentionally refusing to let him rain on her parade, or she really was a fortress against negative vibrations. Though when he continued about not needing charity, the first faint signs of a scowl crossed her features, only to be replaced by an apathetic look and matter-of-fact tone of voice.
"Charity implies that I think you need it--and I do not. You would be dead already if you did not have a way to feed yourself...it's simple compassion to want to share. I was right before. You are stubborn," she smiled, but continued nonetheless, "but that's okay. I don't mind."

His scowl only renewed itself at the foreigner's enthusiasm for understanding all he had said. His gaze turned to her again, and his glare seemed to take on particular venom at her argument. His lips parted to say something, but he stopped, and instead his teeth clenched and he growled through them under his breath. The marauder's expression as he returned to leering at the floor made it obvious he was not just being unpleasant as usual, but was, in fact, in an especially bad mood. Strangely, he seemed to fall quiet, and minutes ticked by with just his glowering at the dirt floor in silence.

She stood leaning against the wall in silence as he moved to glowering at the floor before him. Bhae thought about interrupting the silence a few times to say something, but each time she thought the better of it, and instead continued to amuse herself with wondering, and gazing around the house. He was a strange one. For as irritated as he seemed to be...he still had not told her to leave. She wondered if that was out of spite--a stubborn refusal to do what she had suggested previously, even if that's what he wanted to do. She was beginning to think the pomegranates were a similar story.
When she could not stand the silence any longer, she looked up, stepping slightly away from the wall, "The offer still stands if you want food. Seeing as I have not yet been given reason to dislike you, I see no reason to be stingy...but if you'd rather wait until I'm not offering," she cracked a smile, apparently playing on the fact that he'd eaten her food just fine when it wasn't suggested by her, "You know where my house is."
She stepped away from the wall, offering a faint wave, "I will see you around, Amonsef,. Be careful out there," before she left the abandoned house to go walking down the street.
Bhae did not have a particular destination in mind, though she figured wandering the streets was not the most intelligent of decisions...oh well. She had already started, after all. It was only a few minutes after this decision to continue that someone came ripping around the corner and abruptly crashed into her. She toppled to the ground, blinking, but pushed herself to sitting to turn and watch the stranger run off. They seemed to be in an awful hurry... She frowned briefly, but picked herself up and brushed the dirt and dust from her clothes before she continued walking.
It was then that shouting up ahead caught her ears, and after a brief moment of debating over whether or not she should move, Bhae eventually scuffled sideways to duck between two buildings. She was not afraid of being spotted, but did not want to be mowed down again--and it turned out to be a good call, as a handful of guards came ripping around the same corner to head up the street. ...tch..he'd better watch himself.
She knew they were chasing a specific criminal, but if they lost him and started checking houses, Amonsef would probably have to high-tail it to a different part of town.

He spared a fleeting glance at Bhae when she finally moved to leave, though he quickly turned away to scowl more without offering a goodbye.
He listened carefully at first, as if suspicious she would wait outside for him to fall back asleep, but he heard her footsteps moving off. After a couple of minutes of solitude, Amonsef felt the day's interrupted rest sink back into him. But just as he leaned his head against the wall and was about to shut his eyes, racing footsteps outside caught his ear, and he perked back to attention. A moment later, a stranger burst in and hastily shut the door behind him, only to jump once he noticed Amonsef in the corner. The scrawny man put his finger to his lips to signal for silence.
Amonsef glowered at the intruder with steadily growing hatred, and got to his feet, drawing his knife. The man insistently shook his head with a panicked look - but then the door flung open, sending the intruder staggering forward. "Fuck," hissed Amonsef. "Idiot." Before the guards had barely noticed him, the white-haired marauder darted straight for them - more specifically, the door they were crowding through - but he was quickly snatched up by the group. Instantly, the youth was a mess of violent thrashing, his blade jerking to cut at whatever it could reach while his other arm punched its way free and his teeth even snapped loudly in a move to bite whatever might dare to near his face. Between being startled by the marauder's sudden lunge through them and his burst of violence at being held, the guards did not restrain Amonsef for long, so he erupted out the door before rocketing off into a sprint down the street.
Two of the guards stayed behind to grab their original target, while three others burst out of the home after Amonsef. In the little time he had taken to the street before them, the marauder had gained a significant distance - but now he was running out in the daylight without his cloak, having had to leave it behind when he made a run for the door.

She watched the guards speed past from her hidden alley. Bhae frowned, wondering briefly if she should go back..but what were the odds that they would look in the exact house he was in? She shrugged it off, and instead stepped out of the alley to continue on down the street. He certainly seemed capable of handling himself. She was sure that, even if they did open the wrong door, he would be fine.
Bhae debated over heading back home, but in the meantime meandered through the streets with her hands occasionally tapping at her sides, or fingers wiggling to feel the faint breeze flow between them. It was so hot...why was it so hot? Didn't it ever rain here? Or get cloudy...? In the midst of her wondering, she became aware of movement to her left. Just as she blinked, eyes flitting upward, what appeared to be an older man with gray flecks through his hair dove forward from his hiding place. Bhae blinked, but with her lack of a startled reaction for him to draw from, he was quickly over-powered. She stepped sideways, ducking under his outstretched arms to grab him by the wrist and shoulder, and promptly hurl him forward to the ground.
"...what are you doing? You shouldn't startle people..some of them carry weapons," she muttered, raising an eyebrow while she watched him scramble to his feet.
He did not answer her, instead glancing toward her belt--and frowning when he saw she had no kind of pouch that would carry money or trinkets. Bhae shrugged, watching as he darted off again. It was then that she heard footsteps--hard ones, coming back down the street. She glanced up, scowling briefly when she saw that it was Amonsef again--running from three more guards.
"What part of be careful does he not understand..."

Amonsef had eyes straight ahead, focused far beyond Bhae or anyone else on the street even as he approached the foreigner. He did not afford her much room as he raced past, instead choosing to shove her aside hard enough to push her into the wall of the nearest building. It was not long before the guards had regained some of their lost ground. While he still had the distance to do so, Amonsef came to an abrupt stop to clamber up onto the roof of a shorter building, using its low window for leverage to quickly hoist himself up. By then the guards caught up enough to grapple for the youth's feet, though he was on the roof before they got hold of him.
He paused on the opposite end of the rooftop, glancing back to check for his pursuers - one of whom was on his way up - and then turning to gaze across at the next nearest rooftop not without some anxiety. He did not take much more time than that, however, before stepping back to then race forward and leap across the synapse between buildings, which he made with surprising ease. By the time the guard climbed onto the roof, Amonsef was racing for his third. The guard stepped to the edge of the rooftop to signal the two others where the marauder was headed. When he turned back for Amonsef though, the youth had vanished.
After reaching his third rooftop, Amonsef dropped back to the street below, and was off again. Just a couple of turns later, he ducked into yet another abandoned home - or at least what he had thought was an abandoned home. His eyes went wide with alarm like a skittish animal's, but he growled and turned to dart back outside at the family's uproar of shouting.

Bhae blinked, shaking her head after she was abruptly shoved into the wall. She scowled, rubbing the back of her head where she had hit it, but did not complain out loud. The guards raced by her without much thought of their own--and she did consider tripping them. But that would not have been fair; they were just doing their job, and Amonsef was obviously a thief. Besides, he seemed to have the jump on them most of the time.
She stepped away from the building, finally deciding that it was too damn hot, and began meandering her way back toward her home. She would occasionally hear shouting, and footsteps, but she did not know the layout of the city well enough to be able to determine where they were going, or coming from. After a while it grew silent...but then she heard movement again. The next time she rounded a corner the guards were asking bystanders if they had seen him. Smooth move...
Apparently he had lost them--for now. She cracked a fleeting smile, passing by without being questioned as they recognized her as being one of the people they had passed previously. Bhae continued down the street before she eased open her door to step inside.
"Oh, good...not as hot in here," she muttered, though her voice carried an obvious tone of relief.
