She seemed undeterred by his apparent falling asleep--and moved on to apply aloe on other more severely burned patches of skin. If anything it would dull the pain, and at least help with healing. After she finished, she refilled the small dish with water and set it down next to him again before moving off into another room. Whether he was actually asleep or not, she did not bother to check. Instead, she sat herself down and sighed, leaning back against the wall.
Bhae did fall asleep on and off, but every hour or so seemed to wake up. Some internal timer kept prompting her to get up, and check to make sure he was still breathing--which he was--but also to peer outside to make sure nobody had followed them. So far so good. It looked like he would be able to recover safely after all.
